Here you'll find a brief tutorial and an example discussion.
Do this:
Scroll down and have a look at the example discussion.

In the comment section, you'll directly find the insightful and useful comments, at the top (assuming people have upvoted them).

In the sidebar (the right column below), there's a recent comments list, via which you can easily find and join any ongoing discussion.

If you read only parts of the comment section below now, and return later to finish reading, you can click the Unread tab in the sidebar, to find comments you have not yet read.
After you've scrolled down, read some comments.

Do you quickly find the insightful and useful comments?

Click Like if there's something you like. Comments are sorted so those with many like votes, in comparison to how many have read them, are shown first.

Click Wrong if you find something you think is wrong, for example because of factual errors, or because you disagree. If many people think a comment is wrong, we'll show a warning that says that the comment might be wrong — be careful when you read one of those comments, in case it really is wrong.
Then, add a comment. In the comment, could @mention someone, for example me (I'm KajMagnus, type @KajMagnus in the comment). Then I'll be notified via email about the comment. (People are notified about direct replies too, of course.)
Lastly, optionally, 2D layout:

Example Discussion
Topic: Are there no kind animals, but only monsters, on Mars?
What do you think? Please write an explanation as well — if everyone answers with only a single word (yes/no), there would be many terribly short comments, and this page would look a bit weird.
KajMagnus @KajMagnus2015-01-03 05:09:50.913ZIt's unrealistic to expect all animals on the whole planet to be monsters. On the contrary, as far as I've noticed here on Earth, most animals are cute and kind (and possibly a bit stupid). Why would Mars be any different?
